Summit Metro Parks acquired the 200-acre former Valley View Golf Course fulfilling the long-term vision of connecting three parks—Cascade Valley, Gorge and Sand Run—creating 1,900 contiguous acres of natural green space.
The new area offers free public access to scenic vistas, the Cuyahoga River, the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and over 150 miles of hiking trails.
An extensive, state-of-the-art ecological restoration project has restored wetlands, planted trees and created verdant native meadows. Facilities include a renovated historic barn, river access area with restrooms and an open air shelter, and new trails for biking and hiking. Nearly one mile of the Cuyahoga River has been restored to its natural state, a monumental leap forward for this section of the river and people and wildlife downstream.
By connecting with donors like you, we are continuing to transform the landscape, creating beautiful, natural, accessible green spaces for people—now and for generations to come.
