A legacy of the former landowner and Akron industrialist, the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm is a special-use area set aside for the study and enjoyment of nature. As one of the most visited Summit Metro Parks locations, this area is popular for outdoor gatherings, picnics and recreation. As part of the Summit Metro Parks Foundation’s Support Your Parks! Campaign, funds were raised to construct a new, ADA accessible shelter at the park.
Constructed in 2026, near the existing parking lot at 1828 Smith Road in Akron, is a large, accessible area with a 20-by-36-foot open-air shelter, enclosed portable toilet, activity lawn, and water fountain. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the shelter and its surrounding walkways will be fully ADA accessible, fitting up to 48 people across eight picnic tables.
